The 2010 fruit toast review
$2.00
daisy
The Galleon, St Kilda. "Fruit toast, 40% fruit, no added sugar" $3.50/slice
dense, heavy. Poppy and sesame seeds on crust. Fruit spotted: sultanas, raisins, possibly fig, orange, dates, apricot. Presented on a napkin on a plate with butter on side. Never burnt. Overall, satisfaction rates high-to-very-high. I find myself wanting another slice purely for the experience. Could it be better? Yes. It could be a rectangle shape instead of a square.
4 sultanas.

...Hardcore punk has produced few geniuses. One-note fanzines like Dumb Hardcore revel in the genre's perceived lack of intelligent discourse, suggesting that the best hardcore is made exclusively by stupid people. After all, nothing could get a pack of homophobic, glue huffin' boneheads to haul cold ass like a dose of lumbering, stale academics...

When I was in my last year of university I had a lover who surprised me by saying ze not only didn't like hir period but felt mostly like a man and asked what would I think if ze had hir breasts removed. Fine, I said, I love you, not breasts. Around this time another friend of mine came back from the USA with tranny porn and stories of trans* Pride marches and radical gender variant communities. Cool, I thought. Gender is an oppressive construct. Down with patriarchy! Down with gender, oppression! That's feminist, right? Or is it?

Hello readers, This is the second collaborative zine that Fran and I have made together. The first was a lot less together than this one (even though it was made lands apart) for we skirmished with paper and glue mere hours before the TINA zine fair last year. In the Holy Land for 9 months with a group of non-violent activists working with Palestinians on the ground to resist the Israeli occupation through direct action. I accompanied farmers to weekly demonstrations, chased gun-toting settlers through olive fields with a camera... slept on the street with evicted families. It's incomplete and imperfect. Fresh-squeezed bullshit! Enjoy!!
